DECKS

Patio building in Central Ohio.

A patio sits at grade instead of on posts, so the questions change: drainage, base prep and the transition from your deck or door, not framing height. Often built alongside a deck, not instead of one.

WHAT A PATIO NEEDS

The base matters more than the surface.

Grading and drainage
Water has to move away from the house. We grade and set drainage before anything gets laid.
Base prep
A patio is only as stable as what is underneath it. Proper base compaction is what keeps pavers from shifting and heaving.
Transitions
Where a patio meets a deck, a door, or a walkway is where most problems start. We plan the transition before we plan the surface.
Central Ohio freeze and thaw
Base depth and material choice account for how the ground here moves through winter, not just how the surface looks in July.
WHAT IT COSTS

Priced by square footage and material.

Patio cost depends on the material, the grading work involved and how much base prep the site needs, so we quote after seeing the yard.
PATIO BUILDING QUESTIONS

Asked before the first visit, answered here.

Can I get a patio and a deck built together?
Yes, that is common. We plan the transition between them as part of the same design.
What causes a patio to shift or crack over time?
Almost always inadequate base prep. We compact the base properly and account for how the ground here moves through freeze and thaw.
Does a patio need a permit?
Depends on the jurisdiction and whether it is attached to drainage or structural changes. We confirm what your address requires before we start.
What materials do you build patios with?
Paver and hardscape options suited to the site. We will tell you honestly which one fits your drainage and budget.
